Zillah Harford Play Therapist Exeter Devon

Zillah is such as kind and gentle person. She works with such passion. I love her ability to think outside the box, developing her own toolkit and own practises. – Play Therapist

I got my first job working with children with disabilities as a play worker in 1985.

Then I ran creative movement workshops in pre-schools, mainstream and special needs schools …

and was employed as a one-to-one special educational needs teaching assistant for over twenty years.

During this period I learnt to do Special Time from my mentor, Dr Rachel Pinney …

… and worked alongside Marie Ware, a Senior Registered Dance Movement Therapist.

I also gained a Diploma in Dance Movement Therapy Studies …

… and became a Course Leader in Sherborne Developmental Movement.

In 2014 I completed a PG Certificate in Therapeutic Play Skills.

Now I work therapeutically with children.

I attend monthly supervision, have an enhanced DBS certificate and public liability insurance.

I am an Associate of the British Association of Play Therapists (BAPT) and adhere to their Ethical Principles and Code of Good Practice.

Safeguarding training ensures I maintain professional curiosity and follow procedures to raise concerns in confidence.

Since 2014 I have taken over 650 supervised Special Time sessions …

… trained play therapists, teachers and teaching assistants in Movement Play …

… and been awarded 5 grants to run supervised Movement Play courses with 65 families in Devon.Movement-Play-funding
